There are three words that sum me up as a person. Those words are sparkling, white and wine. If you are out on the town for an evening, you are likely to happen upon me and my friends sipping on crystal flutes of our favorite brut or prosecco, depending on what manner of things we are discussing that evening. When I found myself at 3 Eyed Fish last week, I discovered that they had brought a bourgeois plebeian in from the street who would be pouring samples of sparkling wines for us that evening.
None of that is true. I like beer. I had to look up what brut even meant. I’m here to tell you about 3 Eyed Fish Meet the Maker on Wednesday nights and to be honest they’re pretty awesome to say the least.
Before I arrived this particular Wednesday, I felt like I was going to be a fish out of water, or worse, a fish with two eyes. This Wednesday happened to be bubbles night. I think the gentleman pouring could smell the novice on me as I walked in the door and brought his spiel down to an appropriate level. “This is prosecco. It tingles.” He was right. It tingled. But he was knowledgeable and kind. I still felt somehow out of place. There were people in suits and dresses and it was all I could do to put on something other than gym shorts that day. I was prepared to write a few words about the place, and how the food was this and that, and the wine was such and such and not think too hard about it.

But then along came the staff. They set two plates in front of me. A roasted chicken bruchetta and pulled pork sliders. This was interesting. One appealed to my desire to cloak myself in sophistication and the other satisfied my urge to eat pulled pork without pants on. And both were delicious. The food was great, and the wine was wonderful but nothing compared to the quality of service they provided. There are places all over town where you can get what you want, get it quickly and get out. There are places where you could go an entire meal without ever knowing your waiter’s name, and not even remember what they look like. At 3 Eyed Fish, the staff will add another dimension to your experience. They will care. They will look you in the eye and make you feel like you belong there.
